Peck News is a weekly newsletter with news in Digital Law that were analyzed by partners and collaborators of Peck Advogados.
This week's Peck News features highlights from three articles, namely:
- Brazil suffered 603 ransomware attacks in the last 12 months – Source: IT Bahia
The first highlight was Henrique Rocha, partner at Peck Advogados, who in an interview with TI Bahia, commented on Brazil being one of the preferred targets of digital gangs. “The reason why Brazil leads the ranking seems to be the sum of Brazil's gigantism, in number of inhabitants and digital businesses carried out, as well as the high number of companies located in the country, from the most varied segments, including financial and health sectors, favorite targets of criminal organizations”, he comments.
- Regulation on Intellectual Property needs to be updated in relation to issues involving Artificial Intelligence – Source: Insurance Universe
The second highlight was Patricia Peck, CEO and founding partner of Peck Advogados, who in an interview with Universo do Seguro, spoke about legal developments and copyright in productions that use generative AI technology. In the view of our CEO and founder, the creation of generative AIs, under Brazilian law, is not entitled to intellectual protection. “The machine does not create anything, it only uses information that already exists and was created and inserted somewhere by someone”, she explains.
- Federal Council of Medicine updates rules for medical advertising – Source: Folha Regional Portal
We also highlight the interview with Andréa Ferreira, Consultant Specialist in Health Regulatory at Peck Advogados, who in an interview with Portal Folha Regional, commented on the update made by the Federal Council of Medicine on the rules for medical advertising. “The rule gives doctors greater advertising freedom, but it is essential to act responsibly and in compliance with other current legislation, including the General Personal Data Protection Law – LGPD (13.709/2018)” says the lawyer.
